The Golden Rule
Pierce Meehan’s work is born from his love of classic Southern California aquaculture and the Pacific lifestyle. Blending these values together through the use of familiar materials, Pierce creates new objects, reminiscent and representative of these cultures.
Born and raised as one of six children in Newport Beach, CA, Pierce graduated from the University of Southern California’s Roski School of Fine Art in 2010. He currently lives in Laguna with studios in Santa Ana, CA.
He has participated in numerous group shows since 2014. His most recent solo show was at Ron Herman in Japan in 2017.
“The work is aimed to strike an emotional chord in people. I like to bring back a sense of nostalgia, as you feel when you hear a song that brings back a familiar memory. The panels are objects made of familiar materials, yet they are completely new. Each person has their own story and relationship with the pieces; and as an artist, that is exactly what I’m after”.
