Past Exhibition - August 24, 2017
Surrounded by friends and art collectors, we were pleased to host the first American solo exhibition for César Ancelle-Hansen, a French photographer whose body of work focuses on international surf culture and a connection with the ocean as a way of life. The exhibition coincided with the release of Ancelle-Hansen's new book Le Beau Livre de l'Été (The Beautiful Book of Summer).
The opening of the exhibition was held on August 24th from 5 to 8 pm, and included a book signing. A curated selection of new work that captures the most eagerly awaited season of the year was on display in the Atelier for the duration of September, an ode to the dream of an endless summer.

César Ancelle-Hansen was born in the north of France. An avid photographer from an early age, Ancelle-Hansen's interest in the sea grew organically, informed by his work as an emergency room doctor. His eye focuses on the fluid, fleeting moments of marine life--a fragile structure built by sand, stone, water, and wave. Ancelle-Hansen's most recent portfolio immerses the viewer in a deep and lifelong connection with the sea that celebrates the duality of marine life in its ephemeral and eternal aspects and conveys a sublime, oceanic feeling.
